The quote I chose for my descripton was "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island."- Walt Disney. I chose this quote because a great book doesn't just give me something to do, but also gives me an imagination. It lets my imagination fly with wonder and lets me create my own story. If I didn't have books, my imagination would be no where. Books also show me that I'm not alone. When I can relate to a story, I tend to really enjoy it. When I'm able to relate to the characters I feel like I'm in their position. I think of what the author plans for them to do and sometimes I even use it in my own life. Knowing that other people go through some of the same things I do, lets me see that someone else reading the same book I am, can be feeling the same way. It makes me feel better. Most novels tend to have a goal or lesson in the story and I tend to use it.The way the author creates the character's life, takes me into a whole other world when i read. I get lost in books. I feel like I'm with the characters on their adventure that the author is telling. The treasure in books gives me a free ticket to a whole new adventure.

This was a good quote to select, for reasons you explained well. Part of the task was to also include a link to the source you borrowed this quotation from. Go back and add this to your post. A good start Cara.
ReplyDeleteMy heart skipped a beat when I read "Books also show me that I'm not alone." When I was younger, I found it hard to make friends. Whenever I felt sad because of it, I just lost myself in a book and read about other people with the same feelings, or even different ones. Even when I wasn't feeling sad, I would be happy to sit down with a book instead of playing soccer on the field with the other kids. Books were my best friends. I can really relate to the way you've responded to this well-chosen quote.
ReplyDeleteCallum! You made me melt with your comment; I was the same! Books definitely remind me that I'm not alone and that others have the same problems. It makes you feel unbelievably human. I loved realistic fiction because I could live vicariously through the main character. It also ties in that you said your imagination is nowhere without books. Mine would too! I had such a big imagination that my mom sent me to Playmakers... another thing Callum and I have in common! Very good post, Cara. I found no errors and your ideas were quite complex. It was and interesting read.
