Blog Post#6- Character Archetypes

I'm reading the series Thirst No.2 - Phantom, Evil Thirst by Christopher Pike. Recently I finished Phantom but it carries into Evil Thirst right away. In the story Phantom, Sita is having a mysterious baby. The baby grows extremely fast, and likes blood. Her daughter Kalika is born. Sita knows there is something wrong about her. Eventually Kalika becomes the strongest vampire, {if that's what you can even call her}. Sita needs to keep her away from her friend Paula. Paula has a baby that Kalika wants. Sita knows Kalika will hurt the baby, and not protect it as she says. Kalika recently has killed many innocent people.
The Scripture's readings of Kalika;  "She is the Dark Mother, all consuming and not to be trusted. She brings the light of the red stars, and a wave of red death flows from her fignertips. She is scourge of the child, not its protector as she claims to be. Her name is Kali Ma, and it is her name that matches the dark age. All who know her will fear her." Christopher Pike, Evil Thirst. The Scripture. Page 308.
I'd describe Kalika as a shape shifter! She has many different personalities. She can be wise, a smart mouth, sweet, kind, but also disgustinly evil. Kalika says she does not lie, and she proves she doesn't. Yet Kalika is a very different character and she seems to change personalities during the story but yet it's the way she works to trick people.

  1. "Kalika recently has killed many innocent people"? Wow, that's scary!
Okay, you've given me a lot of information here without a whole lot of explanation. I mean, it's great that you're working to give the reader a general idea of Kalika's character and the story in general before you make your archetype comparison, you've just left some loose ends. For example, how did Sita turn from vampire to human? What happened to the baby's father? Who's saying that quote you have included?
Speaking of which, you have chosen a very good quote. It portrays the true side of Kalika's character well. From what you have said, she does indeed seem to be a Shapeshifter.

  2. I agree with Callum. The first part of this blog post could be summarized a bit more concisely. It makes for an interesting read, but I feel like you could take out some parts relating to Sita. Instead of say that, "Sita thinks she can trust her baby, and that it won't hurt anything," then, saying later, "Sita knows Kalika will the hurt the baby," you could just say that Sita feelings change regarding her daughter. It does seem to me, though from what I read that you definitely have Kalika's archetype pegged.

P.S I think you mean Sita knows Kalike will then hurt the baby not, "will the hurt the baby." It is possible that I just read that wrong, though.
