Blog Post #5- Popular?

When I think of the word classic I think of something that lasts a long time, it'll never get old, and has a certain style. When I think of classic books, or classic songs... It makes me think of songs and novels that my parents are remembering, that this generation enjoys. No matter what the story or music will never get old. Classic gives me the feeling that they want almost everything to be like that in every story or song, and maybe even something in their life.

The English Word Dictionary- http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/classic
Classic;
1. of the first or highest quality, class or rank
2. an author or a literary of work of the first rank especially one of the demonstrably enduring quality
3. an artist or artistic work considered a standard
4. a creation or work considered as defintive
5. an author, artist, or work of art of the highest excellence
6. lasting interest or significance

     I currently finished the book The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I think this romantic novel is definetly a classic. The book has a great story line, though it's based on a true story. The book gives you a sense of how a love triangle can affect many people, and that love can be difficult. It shows you need to follow your heart. The Notebook shows that your first love could be the best love. Sometimes you may make a decision that you don't like in the end; but you can fix it. It's a classic because many people can relate to the story and I think it gives you a sense of emotion. You can feel the way the characters feel, making you feel a little happy, or teary. I think it helps that the story was based on a true story. The description and the length of the whole couples life told from when they met gives you a feeling of hope. Many people have heard about or read The Notebook. It's something that was once popular, and could become popular again. The Notebook is also a #1 New York Times Bestseller, and a major motion picture from the New Line Cinema.

     I think it's one of those stories that Nicholas Sparks fans will pass down to their kids when they're older. I think the next generation or our generation now should read this book. It's truly a great story and gives you something to look at. The story shows you a reason why you should love the people who are in your life. My Mom passed down they book to me, and I'm very glad she did.

"Proves that good things come in small packages... A classic tale of love." - Christian Science Monitor ; {Back cover of The Notebook}

Blog Post #4- This reminds me of...

     I am currently reading the book The End of The World As We Know It, by Lesley Choyce. In the book there are two main characters, Carson and Christine. Carson goes to a private school with students who haven't been able to find a school that works for them anywhere else. Carson hates school and doesn't like the world he lives in. Around town Carson meets Christine. Christine's Mother has abandonded her, her Father is possibly dead. She is living in an old, disguting trailer that is a dump. She dropped out of school and is dealing with other health and self issues. Carson unmistakingly falls in love with Christine. He does everything he can to help her.

     "I think you're wonderful." I said. I had rehearsed those words in my head for just this occasion. She blushed and lowered her head. Then, she began to cry.

     The things going on in Christine's life reminds me that things like that are happening to so many other people around the world today. It's horrible to hear the things that are happening. When I hear stories from teachers in health, when I read other novels, even hearing things on the news and the newspapers, those things remind me of this book. I find it hard to think some people go throug the same thing as Christine. Their life maybe miserable but if no one is even there for you to talk, I can't even imagine how alone and upset they could be. Everyone deserves to have someone in their life. Christine is lucky that Carson came along and was willing to put aside his own problems to help her.

Blog Post #3- Your Main Character

     I'm currently reading the book "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks. The Lucky one has many main characters though I think the main one is Logan Thibault. He is a retired U.S marine. In Iraq he found a picture of this girl from North Carolina. Ever since he found that picture he has had strangely, amazing luck. Eventually, Thibault sets out across the country walking to find the girl in the picture. He finds the girl in the picture. Her name is Elizebeth (Beth), and she lives with Nana, and her son Ben. Beth is divorced, and ben dislikes his father. Turns out Thibault ran into Beth's ex-husband on the way to find Beth. Thibault had no idea that was her ex, and her ex. had no idea that he was on his way to see his ex-wife. They run a huge kennel for dogs and that's where Logan applies to work. Beth thinks that Logan is a stranger, but once she gets to know him, she thinks he is a great man!

      I'd describe Logan as warm hearted, honest, humourous and strong minded. Even though Logan would rather be called his last name, he has been through a lot. He knows that honestly the truth is the best thing out there. He takes care of his dog Zeus, and to me it sounds like he's the best trained dog out there. He has a great passion for helping animals and people. Knowing and seeing everything that he has, he's the kind of person who will feel your pain, but also be quiet when he needs to be. Thibault also lightens an evening with his humour. -
 'You mean the one that used to be advertised on late-night televisions? Where the guy on the commercial uses it to cut through a tin can?" She nodded. "That's the one." "Did you get it?" "It's the knife I'm using now." He smiled. "I've never known anyone who actually admitted to buying one." Thibault and Beth, The Lucky One, Page 128. In this part of the book the girl Beth and Thibault are making tacos. They are having an easy conversation, and they both feel very comfortable. I can tell that they are becoming closer. Reading about Beth and Thibault let's you see there is an easy flow in the story. Also I think there's a strong connection between them. Thibault cares much about Beth, and I think it'll result into something better once I get more into the book.
     I think Thibault is going to meet up with Beth's ex-husband, which who he has met before. It's not going to go well I believe. But I believe Thibault is going to be able to scary Clayton a bit, and that is going to worry Clayton making him do something stupid. Stupid enough that it's going to cause pain in Ben, Beth and Nana, causing pain in Thibault.

     I chose the song BattleField by Jordin Sparks because Thibault came to find Beth in the first place because of the picture. He may have fallen in love with her and he decides he can't tell her about the picture. Not after everything that she has told him. Also, with Beth's ex around, he definetly doesn't want Thibault around Beth. I have a feeling he is going to do something to create some drama, and make sure they won't be together. This song I also feel is appropriate for the mood, and could even describe how Thibault is feeling.

Blog Post #2- Summary and Review

     I recently finished the book Nights In Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks. I fully enoyed this story. I felt it showed that no matter what may happen, you should never give up because someday someone or something will come along, and make you look at life in a whole new perspective.

     Adrienne Willis is a divorced mother. She can't seem to get over her divorce and how her 'soulmate' left her for a younger woman. Also, Adrienne had to deal with her sick father. Adrienne recently has been helping her daughter Amanda deal with depression of the loss of her husband to cancer. Amanda won't do anything, and it's beginning to affect her own children. Eventually Adrienne tells her the story about the few Nights in Rodanthe.
     Adrienne was looking out for a small inn for a friend for a couple days. Paul Flander, was the only one to signed in for the week. Paul Flander is a very famous, hard working doctor/surgeon. He is a major workaholic. Paul recently got a divorce. Paul came to Rodanthe to visit a man who he did work for. Paul never thought he'd end up finding the love of his life when he came to Rodanthe. Paul and Adrienne knew everything about eachother, and were deeply in love. Unfortuanetly, Paul had to leave and meet up with his son. Paul promised Adrienne, that in a year from that day they'd be together forever
