Other Books :)

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. A Walk to Remember is a romance novel. I reccomend it for girls, but if your a succer for a great romance book; guys read it too!

City of Ashes by Cassandra Glare. City of Ashes is the second book in the Mortal Instruments series. It's a great adventure and fantasy story. The story quickly continues from the first book, City of Bones. City of Ashes widens your mind and expierence of their world.

City of Glass by Cassandra Glare. City of Glass is a great adventure book. It's full of mythical creatures, romance, conflict and is a great book to finish off the Mortal Instruments series. I recommend the series Mortal Instruments for either boys or girls. It's a great read for either, and I think you should try it out!

A Choice by Nicholas Sparks. A Choice is another one of Nicholas Sparks loving stories. It's an unmistakable journey for Travis. A Choice is one of those books to cuddle up with on a rainy day.

BP# 10- The Rest of the 5 Stages

I currently finished the book Sister Wife by Shelley Hrdlitchka. This story is about Unity. In Sister Wife the oldest daughter of the family, Celeste. Celeste loves Jon. A boy her age, though that is stricly forbidden in her religion. Celeste is forced to be married off when she turns 15 to an older man. Jon and Celeste get caught together and Jon leaves Unity. He invites Celeste to come with him. But she refuses. Celesete was worried that her father would be angry. She could feel her father's disapointment and pressuring for her to stay and be married at his wishes. Also, her mother was pregnant and her sisters needed her. The 'Special World' Celeste would go into would be our ordinary world. Celeste isn't even aloud to show her ankles that are hidden under her long dress and apron. She isn't fond of the idea of showing off skin in shorts, tshirts, jeans etc.
Throughout the book Celeste goes on an adventure of deciding what she is going to do with her life. Celeste occasionally goes to the river and builds inukshuks. That's where she meets Craig. Craig gives her a sense of hope that nothing is impossible. When Celeste has her first child she decides she must do everything she can to give her daughter the life she lives. But Celeste knows if she leaves, the Unity they could take her daughter.

This is my oppurtunity to start a new life. My only oppourtunity: I do not have to be a mother or wife. I could have a career. I have a choice.
But then I think of my father, and I close my eyes. I see the rage in his face, hear it in his voice. My resolve thinks just thinking about him. -Celeste. Sister Wife. Page 208-209. Shelley Hrdlitschka. 2011.

BP#9- Ordinary World

I just finished the book Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers. Regina's "Ordinary World" is at Hallowell High. Her world revolves around the Fearsome Fivesome. The Fearsome Fivesome is a group of Regina's friends. The leader is her best friend Anna. Anna leads them to bully everyone in their school. They always get away with it. Regina has this perfect life of being one of the prettiest girls in school, being in the popular group, having a good looking, muscular boyfriend and her life being a party. Regina isn't really fond of the idea of ruining people's lives. She likes some of the people they are forced to torture.

The pressure Regina gets in her Ordinary World is she has to follow Anna. She has to do what she says, wear what she wants and live up to her expectations. Regina also has to be a crazy partier to keep up with her boyfriend Josh. Regina doesn't like the idea of hurting people, she never did. But she stayed strong, did it anyway and followed Anna. A character who creates conflict is Kara. Kara has always wanted to join the Fearsomve Fivesome group. She was always rude to Regina, and Kara was always trying to replace her spot. Kara used to be alot bigger; Regina made fun of her alot. Eventually Regina gave Kara these pills to slim her down. Kara causes problems in Anna's and Regina's friendship. Kara is the one who starts the lies and rumours for Regina, and turns everyone possible against her.

" I just want you to understand what I've done to you this year is barely what you deserve. I'm going to make you so sorry-
"But you started out too big," I interrupt. "You went too far, too soon. I can't believe you spent all the time with me and Anna and you never learned anything. I might have felt bad, but you pushed  it and now I'll never be sorry.
She stares at me. "Guess i'll have to try harder."
She leaves. I don't know why, but I start thinking about Liz. And then I think about Donnie. I bring my knees up, curling into myself as much as I can on the narrow bench. I press my forehead against my jeans, and then I start to cry. I don't want to cry. Soon there's a nice weet spot on my knee cause I can't stop.

Blog Post #8- Questions

I'm reading the book The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks. If I were to ask myself a question about this book it'd be are Taylor Mcaden and Denise Holton both heroes?

In the book The Rescue, Denise Holton is a single mother living with her son Kyle Holton. Kyle is four years old and is not able to talk well. His brain doesn't recognize words. He talks like he is a two year old or even younger. Denise has a part time job as a waitress at night. For the rest of the day her time is dedicated to her son. Denise has gave up on doctor's inputs on diagnoses and teachers trying to help Kyle. Nothing worked for Kyle so Denise took up helping her son on her own. Denise had Kyle at an early age, and Denise's parents are both dead. Denise doesn't have any family around. Her life is dedicated to her son. No matter what she loves him, and will do anything for him. Sometimes she does get angry and think why did this have to happen to my boy? But, nothing stops her. Other characters in the book describe her as a great mother and truly she is. I think she'd be a hero for other Mother's who have to deal with their children having disablities, diseases etc. It's not easy for Denise but no matter what she doesn't give up and I don't think she ever will. Heroic traits of Denise could be self-sacrfice, she learns about her son and makes them both grow, a loner, innocent, brave and she has the strong mind of a warrior.

Taylor Mcaden is a volunteer fire fighter. In a part that I just read, Taylor rescused a man from his car that was hanging off a bridge. The back of the car was on fire, and crushed by a tanker. Quickly Taylor had to act fast and get the man out of his tipping car. The ladder would only hold one of them; Taylor let the victim of the car crash go. Taylor jumped off the bridge.
Taylor found Denise Holton in her totaled car though he also found Kyle Holton on that stormy night miles away from the accident. Taylor constatnly sees Denise around town. He has a thing for her but not only for Denise but for Kyle. Taylor can communicate and has made an impact on Kyle that Denise has never seen before. Kyle is beginning to communicate things on his own with Taylor. To Kyle and Denise, Taylor is a hero. Heroic traits that Taylor has are self-sacrifice, courage, a fool, bravery, willing, adventurous and makes sacrifice to achieve his goal.

Blog Post#6- Character Archetypes

I'm reading the series Thirst No.2 - Phantom, Evil Thirst by Christopher Pike. Recently I finished Phantom but it carries into Evil Thirst right away. In the story Phantom, Sita is having a mysterious baby. The baby grows extremely fast, and likes blood. Her daughter Kalika is born. Sita knows there is something wrong about her. Eventually Kalika becomes the strongest vampire, {if that's what you can even call her}. Sita needs to keep her away from her friend Paula. Paula has a baby that Kalika wants. Sita knows Kalika will hurt the baby, and not protect it as she says. Kalika recently has killed many innocent people.
The Scripture's readings of Kalika;  "She is the Dark Mother, all consuming and not to be trusted. She brings the light of the red stars, and a wave of red death flows from her fignertips. She is scourge of the child, not its protector as she claims to be. Her name is Kali Ma, and it is her name that matches the dark age. All who know her will fear her." Christopher Pike, Evil Thirst. The Scripture. Page 308.
I'd describe Kalika as a shape shifter! She has many different personalities. She can be wise, a smart mouth, sweet, kind, but also disgustinly evil. Kalika says she does not lie, and she proves she doesn't. Yet Kalika is a very different character and she seems to change personalities during the story but yet it's the way she works to trick people.

Blog Post #5- Popular?

When I think of the word classic I think of something that lasts a long time, it'll never get old, and has a certain style. When I think of classic books, or classic songs... It makes me think of songs and novels that my parents are remembering, that this generation enjoys. No matter what the story or music will never get old. Classic gives me the feeling that they want almost everything to be like that in every story or song, and maybe even something in their life.

The English Word Dictionary- http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/classic
Classic;
1. of the first or highest quality, class or rank
2. an author or a literary of work of the first rank especially one of the demonstrably enduring quality
3. an artist or artistic work considered a standard
4. a creation or work considered as defintive
5. an author, artist, or work of art of the highest excellence
6. lasting interest or significance

I currently finished the book The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I think this romantic novel is definetly a classic. The book has a great story line, though it's based on a true story. The book gives you a sense of how a love triangle can affect many people, and that love can be difficult. It shows you need to follow your heart. The Notebook shows that your first love could be the best love. Sometimes you may make a decision that you don't like in the end; but you can fix it. It's a classic because many people can relate to the story and I think it gives you a sense of emotion. You can feel the way the characters feel, making you feel a little happy, or teary. I think it helps that the story was based on a true story. The description and the length of the whole couples life told from when they met gives you a feeling of hope. Many people have heard about or read The Notebook. It's something that was once popular, and could become popular again. The Notebook is also a #1 New York Times Bestseller, and a major motion picture from the New Line Cinema.

I think it's one of those stories that Nicholas Sparks fans will pass down to their kids when they're older. I think the next generation or our generation now should read this book. It's truly a great story and gives you something to look at. The story shows you a reason why you should love the people who are in your life. My Mom passed down they book to me, and I'm very glad she did.

"Proves that good things come in small packages... A classic tale of love." - Christian Science Monitor ; {Back cover of The Notebook}

Blog Post #4- This reminds me of...

I am currently reading the book The End of The World As We Know It, by Lesley Choyce. In the book there are two main characters, Carson and Christine. Carson goes to a private school with students who haven't been able to find a school that works for them anywhere else. Carson hates school and doesn't like the world he lives in. Around town Carson meets Christine. Christine's Mother has abandonded her, her Father is possibly dead. She is living in an old, disguting trailer that is a dump. She dropped out of school and is dealing with other health and self issues. Carson unmistakingly falls in love with Christine. He does everything he can to help her.

"I think you're wonderful." I said. I had rehearsed those words in my head for just this occasion. She blushed and lowered her head. Then, she began to cry.

The things going on in Christine's life reminds me that things like that are happening to so many other people around the world today. It's horrible to hear the things that are happening. When I hear stories from teachers in health, when I read other novels, even hearing things on the news and the newspapers, those things remind me of this book. I find it hard to think some people go throug the same thing as Christine. Their life maybe miserable but if no one is even there for you to talk, I can't even imagine how alone and upset they could be. Everyone deserves to have someone in their life. Christine is lucky that Carson came along and was willing to put aside his own problems to help her.

Blog Post #3- Your Main Character

I'm currently reading the book "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks. The Lucky one has many main characters though I think the main one is Logan Thibault. He is a retired U.S marine. In Iraq he found a picture of this girl from North Carolina. Ever since he found that picture he has had strangely, amazing luck. Eventually, Thibault sets out across the country walking to find the girl in the picture. He finds the girl in the picture. Her name is Elizebeth (Beth), and she lives with Nana, and her son Ben. Beth is divorced, and ben dislikes his father. Turns out Thibault ran into Beth's ex-husband on the way to find Beth. Thibault had no idea that was her ex, and her ex. had no idea that he was on his way to see his ex-wife. They run a huge kennel for dogs and that's where Logan applies to work. Beth thinks that Logan is a stranger, but once she gets to know him, she thinks he is a great man!

I'd describe Logan as warm hearted, honest, humourous and strong minded. Even though Logan would rather be called his last name, he has been through a lot. He knows that honestly the truth is the best thing out there. He takes care of his dog Zeus, and to me it sounds like he's the best trained dog out there. He has a great passion for helping animals and people. Knowing and seeing everything that he has, he's the kind of person who will feel your pain, but also be quiet when he needs to be. Thibault also lightens an evening with his humour. -
'You mean the one that used to be advertised on late-night televisions? Where the guy on the commercial uses it to cut through a tin can?" She nodded. "That's the one." "Did you get it?" "It's the knife I'm using now." He smiled. "I've never known anyone who actually admitted to buying one." Thibault and Beth, The Lucky One, Page 128. In this part of the book the girl Beth and Thibault are making tacos. They are having an easy conversation, and they both feel very comfortable. I can tell that they are becoming closer. Reading about Beth and Thibault let's you see there is an easy flow in the story. Also I think there's a strong connection between them. Thibault cares much about Beth, and I think it'll result into something better once I get more into the book.
I think Thibault is going to meet up with Beth's ex-husband, which who he has met before. It's not going to go well I believe. But I believe Thibault is going to be able to scary Clayton a bit, and that is going to worry Clayton making him do something stupid. Stupid enough that it's going to cause pain in Ben, Beth and Nana, causing pain in Thibault.

I chose the song BattleField by Jordin Sparks because Thibault came to find Beth in the first place because of the picture. He may have fallen in love with her and he decides he can't tell her about the picture. Not after everything that she has told him. Also, with Beth's ex around, he definetly doesn't want Thibault around Beth. I have a feeling he is going to do something to create some drama, and make sure they won't be together. This song I also feel is appropriate for the mood, and could even describe how Thibault is feeling.

Blog Post #2- Summary and Review

I recently finished the book Nights In Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks. I fully enoyed this story. I felt it showed that no matter what may happen, you should never give up because someday someone or something will come along, and make you look at life in a whole new perspective.

Adrienne Willis is a divorced mother. She can't seem to get over her divorce and how her 'soulmate' left her for a younger woman. Also, Adrienne had to deal with her sick father. Adrienne recently has been helping her daughter Amanda deal with depression of the loss of her husband to cancer. Amanda won't do anything, and it's beginning to affect her own children. Eventually Adrienne tells her the story about the few Nights in Rodanthe.
Adrienne was looking out for a small inn for a friend for a couple days. Paul Flander, was the only one to signed in for the week. Paul Flander is a very famous, hard working doctor/surgeon. He is a major workaholic. Paul recently got a divorce. Paul came to Rodanthe to visit a man who he did work for. Paul never thought he'd end up finding the love of his life when he came to Rodanthe. Paul and Adrienne knew everything about eachother, and were deeply in love. Unfortuanetly, Paul had to leave and meet up with his son. Paul promised Adrienne, that in a year from that day they'd be together forever

Blog Post #1

The quote I chose for my descripton was "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island."- Walt Disney. I chose this quote because a great book doesn't just give me something to do, but also gives me an imagination. It lets my imagination fly with wonder and lets me create my own story. If I didn't have books, my imagination would be no where. Books also show me that I'm not alone. When I can relate to a story, I tend to really enjoy it. When I'm able to relate to the characters I feel like I'm in their position. I think of what the author plans for them to do and sometimes I even use it in my own life. Knowing that other people go through some of the same things I do, lets me see that someone else reading the same book I am, can be feeling the same way. It makes me feel better. Most novels tend to have a goal or lesson in the story and I tend to use it.The way the author creates the character's life, takes me into a whole other world when i read. I get lost in books. I feel like I'm with the characters on their adventure that the author is telling. The treasure in books gives me a free ticket to a whole new adventure.
